18 Do not go away till I come with my offering and put it before you. And he said, I will not go away before you come back.
And said, My Lord, if now I have grace in your eyes, do not go away from your servant:
And let me get a bit of bread to keep up your strength, and after that you may go on your way: for this is why you have come to your servant. And they said, Let it be so.

Nothing that occurred in the quiet and peaceable times of Israel is recorded; the forty years' rest after the conquest of Jabin is passed over in silence; and here begins the story of another distress and another deliverance, by Gideon, the fourth of the judges. Here is,
