16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their lusts; and their mouth speaks swelling words, admiring persons for the sake of profit.
For [while] speaking great highflown words of vanity, they allure with [the] lusts of [the] flesh, by dissoluteness, those who have just fled those who walk in error,
and specially those who walk after the flesh in [the] lust of uncleanness, and despise lordship. Bold [are they], self-willed; they do not fear speaking injuriously of dignities:
Neither murmur ye, as some of them murmured, and perished by the destroyer.
Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment; thou shalt not respect the person of the lowly, nor honour the person of the great; in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.
constant quarrellings of men corrupted in mind and destitute of the truth, holding gain to be [the end of] piety.
For the time shall be when they will not bear sound teaching; but according to their own lusts will heap up to themselves teachers, having an itching ear;
But every one is tempted, drawn away, and enticed by his own lust; then lust, having conceived, gives birth to sin; but sin fully completed brings forth death.
My brethren, do not have the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, [Lord] of glory, with respect of persons: for if there come unto your synagogue a man with a gold ring in splendid apparel, and a poor man also come in in vile apparel, and ye look upon him who wears the splendid apparel, and say, Do thou sit here well, and say to the poor, Do thou stand there, or sit here under my footstool: have ye not made a difference among yourselves, and become judges having evil thoughts? Hear, my beloved brethren: Has not God chosen the poor as to the world, rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to them that love him? But *ye* have despised the poor [man]. Do not the rich oppress you, and [do not] *they* drag you before [the] tribunals? And [do not] *they* blaspheme the excellent name which has been called upon you? If indeed ye keep [the] royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well. But if ye have respect of persons, ye commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.
as children of obedience, not conformed to [your] former lusts in your ignorance;
Beloved, I exhort [you], as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
But there were false prophets also among the people, as there shall be also among you false teachers, who shall bring in by the bye destructive heresies, and deny the master that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction; and many shall follow their dissolute ways, through whom the way of the truth shall be blasphemed. And through covetousness, with well-turned words, will they make merchandise of you: for whom judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction slumbers not.
knowing this first, that there shall come at [the] close of the days mockers with mocking, walking according to their own lusts,
To have respect of persons is not good; but for a piece of bread will a man transgress.
and ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because Jehovah hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person; neither will I give flattery to man.
[How then to him] that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich man more than the poor? for they are all the work of his hands.
They are enclosed in their own fat; with their mouth they speak proudly.
They set their mouth in the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. Therefore his people turn hither, and waters in fulness are wrung out to them. And they say, How can ùGod know, and is there knowledge in the Most High?
And the men whom Moses had sent to search out the land, who returned, and made the whole assembly to murmur against him, by bringing up an evil report upon the land,
And they that are of erring spirit shall know understanding, and the disobedient shall learn doctrine.
and the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, This [man] receives sinners and eats with them.
And all murmured when they saw [it], saying, He has turned in to lodge with a sinful man.
But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples murmur concerning this, said to them, Does this offend you?
But I say, Walk in [the] Spirit, and ye shall no way fulfil flesh's lust.
