10 How fair H3302 is thy love, H1730 my sister, H269 my spouse! H3618 how much better H2895 is thy love H1730 than wine! H3196 and the smell H7381 of thine ointments H8081 than all spices! H1314
Let him kiss H5401 me with the kisses H5390 of his mouth: H6310 for thy love H1730 is better H2896 than wine. H3196 Because of the savour H7381 of thy good H2896 ointments H8081 thy name H8034 is as ointment H8081 poured forth, H7324 therefore do the virgins H5959 love H157 thee. Draw H4900 me, we will run H7323 after H310 thee: the king H4428 hath brought H935 me into his chambers: H2315 we will be glad H1523 and rejoice H8055 in thee, we will remember H2142 thy love H1730 more than wine: H3196 the upright H4339 love H157 thee.
I rose up H6965 to open H6605 to my beloved; H1730 and my hands H3027 dropped H5197 with myrrh, H4753 and my fingers H676 with sweet smelling H5674 myrrh, H4753 upon the handles H3709 of the lock. H4514
How fair H3302 and how pleasant H5276 art thou, O love, H160 for delights! H8588
Now G1161 he which stablisheth G950 us G2248 with G4862 you G5213 in G1519 Christ, G5547 and G2532 hath anointed G5548 us, G2248 is God; G2316 Who G3588 hath G4972 also G2532 sealed G4972 us, G2248 and G2532 given G1325 the earnest G728 of the Spirit G4151 in G1722 our G2257 hearts. G2588
But G1161 the fruit G2590 of the Spirit G4151 is G2076 love, G26 joy, G5479 peace, G1515 longsuffering, G3115 gentleness, G5544 goodness, G19 faith, G4102
But G1161 I have G568 all, G3956 and G2532 abound: G4052 I am full, G4137 having received G1209 of G3844 Epaphroditus G1891 the things which were sent from G3844 you, G5216 an odour G3744 of a sweet smell, G2175 a sacrifice G2378 acceptable, G1184 wellpleasing G2101 to God. G2316
And G2532 when G3753 he had taken G2983 the book, G975 the four G5064 beasts G2226 and G2532 four G5064 and twenty G1501 elders G4245 fell down G4098 before G1799 the Lamb, G721 having G2192 every one of them G1538 harps, G2788 and G2532 golden G5552 vials G5357 full G1073 of odours, G2368 which G3739 are G1526 the prayers G4335 of saints. Commentary on Song of Songs 4 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 4
In this chapter,
Sgs 4:1-7
Here is,
Sgs 4:8-14
These are still the words of Christ to his church, expressing his great esteem of her and affection to her, the opinion he had of her beauty and excellency, the desire he had of, and the delight he had in, her converse and society. And so ought men to love their wives as Christ loves the church, and takes pleasure in it as if it were spotless and had no fault, when yet it is compassed with infirmity. Now, observe here,
Sgs 4:15-16
These seem to be the words of the spouse, the church, in answer to the commendations which Christ, the bridegroom, had given of her as a pleasant fruitful garden. Is she a garden?
