15 He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the righteous, Both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.
"Keep far from a false charge, and don't kill the innocent and righteous: for I will not justify the wicked.
Who acquit the guilty for a bribe, But deny justice for the innocent!
The two men, the base fellows, came in and sat before him: and the base fellows bore witness against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did curse God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him to death with stones.
There are six things which Yahweh hates; Yes, seven which are an abomination to him:
These also are sayings of the wise. To show partiality in judgment is not good. He who says to the wicked, "You are righteous;" Peoples shall curse him, and nations shall abhor him--
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says Yahweh. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Her princes in the midst of it are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, [and] to destroy souls, that they may get dishonest gain. Her prophets have daubed for them with whitewash, seeing false visions, and divining lies to them, saying, Thus says the Lord Yahweh, when Yahweh has not spoken. The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery; yes, they have vexed the poor and needy, and have oppressed the foreigner wrongfully.
You who turn justice to wormwood, And cast down righteousness to the earth:
For I know how many your offenses, And how great are your sins-- You who afflict the just, Who take a bribe, And who turn aside the needy in the courts.
But they all cried out together, saying, "Away with this man! Release to us Barabbas!" -- one who was thrown into prison for a certain revolt in the city, and for murder. Then Pilate spoke to them again, wanting to release Jesus, but they shouted, saying, "Crucify! Crucify him!" He said to them the third time, "Why? What evil has this man done? I have found no capital crime in him. I will therefore chastise him and release him." But they were urgent with loud voices, asking that he might be crucified. Their voices and the voices of the chief priests prevailed. Pilate decreed that what they asked for should be done. He released him who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, but he delivered Jesus up to their will.
But to him who doesn't work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.
